Ok, so we've recently seen the mysterious four-toed statue (or we're ninety-nine point nine percent sure we have) and it looked egyptian. Weird, no? But we've seen plenty of other Egyptian references before, such as the symbols on the door of Ben's secret room, the ruin we saw with Jin/Rousseau, etc. Most recently, Paul (amy's former husband) had a necklace that was an ankh. Ankhs are symbols of everlasting life, by the way. Well, there are tons of ancient Gods and Goddesses that could fit the bill from what we saw. Well, I've gone onto Wikipedia, as we all know the most reliable source in the word, to look some of them up. Here are a list of Gods/Goddesses that I either thought COULD be the inspiration for the statue or who had animal ears.
Anubis - A jackal-headed God associated with death and funerals.
Bast - A cat-headed Goddess of war/solar
*Isis -Goddess of magical power and healing as well as protector of the dead
Ma'at - Goddess of truth, balance, order, law, morality, justice
Mafdet - Cheetah-headed Goddess of legal justice and execution
Menhit - Goddess of War (here's the interesting part: her name means 'She who massacres.' Anyone thinking of the purge?)
*Meskhenet - Goddess of childbirth and the creator of each person's Ka, a part of their soul which is associated with fate
Seker - The God who seperates the soul from the body
*Teweret - Goddess of pregnant women and the protector of childbirth
Wepwawet - The Jackal-headed God of war and scouting
I put asterisks on the ones that I favor. I like those that have to do with death or with childbirth, two big themes on the show.
Also, here's a link for Doc Arzt's theory that the statue has nothing to do with Egyptian deities at all: http://www.docarzt.com/lost/lost-theories/lost-theory-old-four-toes-solved-not/
What do you think?
