Ok, so I know by now that we are all buzzing from lack of LOST news, so here's a fun theory for you that you might enojoy. Remember way, way back to the Season Three premiere. Juliet was talking to an elderly woman (sorry, I'm having problems uploading a picture) who, as I've recently discovered, is named Amelia. The two seem to share some sort of bond. To be specific, Juliet is about to disclose to Amelia that Ben has a tumor on his spine. Outside, Ethan is working on something (I think trying to fix some sort of ventilating problem). Amelia comments fondly, "Is that boy finished yet?" (Or something like that). To me, it's a very motherly tone.
Thought I haven't played any of the RPG games that pop up between seasons, I've done some digging and found out that a factor of the Post-Season 2 game was the mysterious disappearance of Amelia Earhart. Could Earhart have crashed on the island? Is this her? But Earhart disappeared decades before, right? Well, we know that time works differently on the island and that the island is always moving in space and time, so we can't rule this out based on logic. Personally, I think she either is the famed Earhart or someone related to her.
Now, here's the clincher: Amy is a shortened form of Amelia, correct? What if we're seeing a younger version of Amelia? And her son: Ethan. I've always favored this over some of the other crazier theories like her son being Jacob, Desmond, etc. And if she survived the purge, perhaps other people could as well which means that our favorite losties aren't necessarily as threatened as once thought. Problems: Aside from hair color, they don't really look alike. But, all the same, this could explain Juliet/Amelia's bond: because Juliet helped her deliver the baby.
